Childhood Habitual Activity Surveillance
1982 - 1990
The period saw consolidation of population-based activity assessment, with short questionnaires for habitual activity enabling scalable epidemiologic research in youth. Methodological progress occurred through the development of practical, scalable survey techniques and cross-study synthesis that set the groundwork for later measurement tools. A biopsychosocial perspective emerged, acknowledging genetic and environmental influences on childhood activity and supporting longitudinal surveillance of activity patterns across cohorts.
